“It is suggested that each entry be a photograph that seeks to portray FORMS OR PATTERNS OR MOVEMENTS OR LIGHT of the subject across the image. It shall be an image that depicts Vividness and Force that shows the Impression, or Imagination, the Subject makes upon the photographer’s Vision — and that that conveys, or holds attention toward exciting emotions and Sensation of those who may view, or judge such Artistic endeavors of the photographer.”

The above paragraph is the criteria for the Frank J. Miller award for the Artistic Photographer Award. The winner of this award for 2019 is Randy Knauf:

Every year a photographer who has not only placed in competitions throughout the year but has also consistently participated in meetings, field trips, and other club functions is awarded the photographer of the year.

The Catawba Valley Camera Club meets on the first and third Wednesdays of every month, at 7:00 pm in the North Annex of the Arts Center in Hickory. Meetings consist of competition among members as well as instructional lectures.
