2/19/20 – Projection Competition – Repetition

The Catawba Valley Camera Club has announced the winners of its photographic competition for the February 19, 2020 meeting.  The projection competition was “Repetition”.

The winners were:

First Place – Tom Devlin – “The National Center for Peace and Justice

Second Place – Donny Teague – “Panama Building”

Third Place – Randy Knauf – “Green Thread”

Fourth Place – Dan Kiser – “Tiles”

The Catawba Valley Camera Club meets on the first and third Wednesdays of every month, at 7:00 pm in the North Annex of the Arts Center in Hickory.  Meetings consist of competition among members as well as instructional lectures. Field trips are planned throughout the year to enable members to share and demonstrate techniques as well as spend time enjoying photography together.  The next meeting will be March 18, 2020. The program will be a projection competition – “People at Work”.  The public is invited to attend, membership is not required.  If you want to become a better photographer and make new friends while doing so, come join us.

1/22/20 – Print Competition – Open, lifetime

The Catawba Valley Camera Club has announced the winners of its photographic competition for the January 22 , 2020 meeting.  The print competition was open subject, lifetime.

The winners were:

First Place – Doreen Sugierski – “The Big Boy Union Pacific #4014”

Second Place – Chip Young – “Across the Mara River”

Third Place – Doreen Sugierski – “Covered Wagon Train”

Fourth Place– Ed Lane – “Seattle Rainbow”

“It is suggested that each entry be a photograph that seeks to portray FORMS OR PATTERNS OR MOVEMENTS OR LIGHT of the subject across the image. It shall be an image that depicts Vividness and Force that shows the Impression, or Imagination, the Subject makes upon the photographer’s Vision — and that that conveys, or holds attention toward exciting emotions and Sensation of those who may view, or judge such Artistic endeavors of the photographer.”

The above paragraph is the criteria for the Frank J. Miller award for the Artistic Photographer Award. The winner of this award for 2019 is Randy Knauf:
