Field Trip to Whitetop Mountain

Recently, several club members took a field trip to Whitetop Mountain.  Below are the members that made that COLD trip.  All had a wonderful time and got some great images.

If you would like to become a member of this fun group, please see the ABOUT page and come to one of our meetings.  We would love to have you and, as a member, show off your favorite images and hopefully expand your photography skills attending the instructional nights.

Zoo Trip Postponed

The trip to the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia that was scheduled for Sunday, April 15, has been postponed due to a poor weather forecast. The trip has been rescheduled for the same time NEXT Sunday (April 21st). Janice Setzler will be contacting those who signed up.

Field Trip Changes

Please make a note of the date change on the Riverbanks Zoo field trip.  The date has been changed from April 7 to April 14.

The North Carolina Raptor Center field trip has been posponed indefinitely unless someone else can host it.  I have a schedule conflict on the 21st and won’t be able to attend.

NC Transportation Museum Field Trip

Our field trip to the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC, will be held THIS Saturday. The current weather forecast for Saturday is partly cloudy skies with temperatures reaching 84 degrees in the afternoon. This should make great weather for the event.

We will meet at the Arts Center North Annex (in the parking lot where we normally gather for meetings) at 8:30am on Saturday, March 24. If the group wants to stop along the way for breakfast or brunch, we will do so.

The North Carolina Transportation Museum operating hours for Saturday are 10am – 4pm. You may plan to stay as long as you like. I would suggest bringing a picnic lunch. The only food available on site is from snack machines located near the gift shop. There are a few restaurants of various sorts in Salisbury, which is just a few minutes up the road from the site.

You may also feel free to come later in the day if you like. The directions to the site are as follows from Hickory:

Take I-40 east to exit 152a to I-77 south in Statesville. Go about 2.5 miles south on I-77 and take exit 49a to Highway 70 east. You will stay on Highway 70 for approximately 26 miles. You will pass through downtown Salisbury. Just on the other side of Salisbury, you will come to the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer (on the right side of the road). I will have my cell phone with me (828-234-3557) or you may call the Museum at 704-636-2889 for more information.

March 21st Meeting

OUr club meeting will be held on March 21st at 730pm at the North Annex of the Arts Center. The agenda for the meeting is as follows:
