Note from the President…

CV Camera Club Members:

  • Thanks to all who brought animal photos and to Ed Lane and Bob Phipps for handling the sale.  I am sorry we did not sell but one photo, but glad that we have one more chance to meet the public and to cooperate with the Art Museum.
  • The task force planning the Digital Photography for Youth at the Library   1-3 PM Saturday October 20 is well on the way to a fine presentation.  They have chosen photos as examples, made plans for the session and are preparing a handout.  We will have fliers  at the meetings.   Youth 13-17 may call 304-0500 Ext 7271 for information or registration.  
  • CVCC CLUB MEETING: October 3  7:30.   It’s Info night with a special presentation by Pam Barbour on her photo trip to Antarctica.  See you there.
  • FIELD TRIP TO OLD SALEM: October 6.   Meet at Science Center (near meeting room door) at 8:30 AM.
  • FIELD TRIP TO HART SQUARE: October 27 – On your own – you must have ordered tickets.   We will take time at the meeting to organize car pools.

September 19th Meeting

The Catawba Valley Camera Club meeting on Wednesday, September 19th will be an open projection (slides or digital) competition at 7:30pm.  Please submit your digital images to Robert Dant before the deadline on Monday or bring your slides to the meeting.

I have posted all of the winning images that I received for the September 5th meeting.  This first posting from a print competition was just a little rocky, but I think everything is in order now…

August 15th Meeting – “Lines” Assigned Subject

The August 15th meeting of the Catawba Valley Camera Club will be an assigned subject (projection) competition on the theme of “Lines.”  You may submit up to three images.  Please have your images submitted by Monday, August 13th via the normal submission channels for this competition. 

August 1st Meeting

The August 1 meeting of the Catawba Valley Camera Club will be held at the North Annex of the Arts Center (regular meeting place). The competition will be a projection competition… please submit up to two images…

July 18th Meeting

The July 18th meeting of the Catawba Valley Camera Club will be at 7:30pm in the North Annex of the Arts Center.  This meeting will host an open print competition.  Bring up to two of your favorite prints.

June 20th Meeting

The June 20th Meeting of the Catawba Valley Camera Club will be an open competition (digital/slides). Please get your digital images in to Robert by 7pm on Monday.

June 6th Meeting: Basic Digital Processing

The June 6th Meeting of the Catawba Valley Camera Club will be an instructional lecture by John M. Setzler, Jr. on basic digital photo post processing using Adobe Photoshop. The meeting will be in the North Annex of the Arts Center at 7:30pm.

Some of the basic concepts of digital processing that will be discussed are:

  • EXIF data
  • Histograms/Levels Adjustments
  • Hue/Saturation
  • Contrast
  • Sharpening
  • Black and White Conversion

If time permits, we will discuss some more advanced techniques… Bring your specific questions with you 🙂

May 2nd Meeting – Critique Night

Our May 2nd meeting will be held at the North Annex of the Arts Center (regular meeting place) at 7:30pm. The meeting will consist of a critique night. You may bring up to 10 imgaes. These can be prints, slides, or digital images or any combination of those. If you plan to submit digital images, please get them to Robert Dant by 730pm on Monday, April 30.

April 18th Meeting: Slide Competition

Don’t forget about digital submissions.  They must be submitted prior to Monday evening.

April 4th Meeting

Our April 4th meeting will be at 7:30pm in the North Annex of the Arts Center.  The meeting topic will be Digital Projection presented by Robert Dant.
